Pocahontas Retype Project ; more DNA; planning visit!
Through some digging around, found a new site http://www.pocamem.com. The owner of the site has posted a number of pages of older history from the Prices, and also pictures from cemeteries located around Pocahontas County.
Mainly in the Hillsboro and Ruckman cemeteries, I located photographs of the headstones for my Grandmother Beulah Beard, Great Grandmother Mary Allison Kellison Weiford, Uncle Ross Beard, Grandfather Julian Lynn Beard, Great Grandfather Josiah Paul Beard, Great Grandmother Nancy Grace Kinnison Beard, Great Great Grandfather James Henry Moffett Beard, Great Great Grandmother Nancy Estalene Crouch Beard, Great Great Great Grandfather Josiah Jonas Beard and Great Great Great Grandmother Rachel Cameron Poage Beard.
Also found a number of headstones for various cousins and other relatives in the family tree; many of these were useful in validating birth/death dates.
I also received this week an update on my Y-DNA37-67 results; these results are not 100% complete but another batch was processed. I expect to have the full 67 markers available by end of February; this hopefully will help clarify some of the descendency issues with the Beard family.
I am planning a trip to Staunton VA area and Pocahontas County in April, for 1 week.
